Report Text 

adalah teks yang mendeskripsikan sesuatu atau benda-benda secara umum, contohnya berbagai benda atau fenomena alam, buatan dan sosial yang ada atau terjadi di lingkungan kita. Teks report mengupas suatu hasil pengamatan, penelaahan, penelitian, observasi, atau study tentang benda atau binatang, orang atau tempat. 


Report Text hampir sama dengan Descriptive Text yang membedakan adalah objek yang diceritakan berbentuk jamak, sedangkan objek yang diceritakan pada Descriptive Text berbentuk tunggal. 


Generic Structure Report Text adalah :

1. General classification (Klasifikasi umum) : pengantar tentang sesuatu atau fenomena yang akan dibahas.

2. Description (Deskripsi) : menerangkan sesuatu atau fenomena yang dibahas, meliputi bagian-bagian, kualitas dan perilaku.


Ciri-ciri Report Text 

adalah :

1. Menggunakan pola kalimat Simple Present Tense

2. Menggunakan kata benda umum (general nouns)

3. Menggunakan kata kerja yang saling berhubungan (relating verbs)

4. Terdiri dari sebuah objek ditambah objek tentang alam lainnya.

Panda Report Text


Panda: A Unique and Endangered Animal

The panda, also known as the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca), is a species of bear native to China. It is famous for its black-and-white fur and is considered a symbol of wildlife conservation. Pandas mainly live in bamboo forests in the mountains of central China, such as Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces.


Physical Characteristics

Pandas have a distinctive black-and-white coat, which helps them blend into their natural environment. They have strong jaws and large molars that help them chew tough bamboo. An adult panda can grow up to 1.5 meters long and weigh between 70 to 125 kilograms.


Diet and Behavior

Unlike other bears, pandas are mostly herbivorous, with 99% of their diet consisting of bamboo. However, they may also eat small animals or fruits occasionally. Pandas spend most of their time eating and can consume up to 12–38 kilograms of bamboo daily. They are generally solitary animals and prefer to live alone rather than in groups.


Reproduction and Conservation Status

Pandas have a low birth rate, which makes their population vulnerable. Female pandas give birth to one or two cubs at a time, but raising them is challenging. Due to habitat destruction and low reproduction rates, pandas are classified as "Vulnerable" by the IUCN. Conservation efforts, such as breeding programs and habitat protection, have helped increase their population in recent years.

1. Pengertian Report Text

Report Text adalah teks yang memberikan informasi faktual tentang sesuatu secara umum, seperti hewan, tumbuhan, tempat, atau fenomena alam.


2. Tujuan Report Text

Tujuan utama dari Report Text adalah memberikan informasi atau menjelaskan suatu objek secara umum berdasarkan fakta yang ada.


3. Ciri-ciri Report Text

Bersifat informatif dan objektif (berdasarkan fakta).

Menggunakan Simple Present Tense karena menjelaskan fakta umum.

Memiliki generic structure yang terdiri dari:

General Classification → Gambaran umum tentang objek yang dibahas.


Description → Penjelasan lebih rinci tentang bagian-bagian, sifat, kebiasaan, atau perilaku objek tersebut.


4. Contoh Objek dalam Report Text

Hewan (contoh: Komodo, Dolphin, Owl).

Tumbuhan (contoh: Cactus, Rose, Bamboo).

Fenomena alam (contoh: Tsunami, Earthquake, Rain).

Tempat atau benda (contoh: Library, Internet, Smartphone).

Dengan memahami Report Text, siswa dapat lebih mudah membaca, menulis, dan menyusun teks yang menjelaskan sesuatu secara ilmiah dan faktual.
